COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (AP) — A 4-month-old girl has died one week after authorities found her severely injured in her southeastern Iowa home.

Officials say Marleen Jimenez of Columbus Junction died Saturday morning at the University of Iowa Hospital. An autopsy was performed Monday at the hospital. Results have not been released.

The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation says local police responded last week to information that a baby had been seriously injured. They later arrested 21-year-old Oscar Jimenez on a charge of multiple acts of child endangerment.

If convicted, Oscar Jimenez could face up to 50 years in prison.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing.
