Arrest in Stolen Trailer From Black Hawk County

Fayette County authorities have arrested a Des Moines man who was allegedly towing a stolen trailer from Black Hawk County.

Shortly after 6:30pm Sunday (May 13), the Fayette County Sheriff received a report of a vehicle towing a trailer that was reported stolen out of Black Hawk County, about 3 hours earlier.

A deputy stopped the vehicle at 60th Street and "P" Avenue, just north of Oelwein.

An investigation determined that the driver, 46 year old Joseph Pettis of Des Moines, was operating an SUV with a suspended license. Pettis was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Driving While his License is Suspended.
