Motorists are being cautioned that winds and snow drifts, not to mention record or near record wind chills, are making driving conditions hazardous, and may put a damper on your travel plans.

Bremer County deputies were called out in the cold Tuesday morning, when a motorist ended up off the road, into the snow. The driver, 67 year old Robert Waters of Wellsburg, lost control of his van north of Janesville on Highway 218, just before 11am Tuesday (Jan. 29). The vehicle was pulling a trailer, and it jackknifed into the median of the highway.

No one was injured, and damage appeared to be minimal.

The accident was covered by the Bremer County Sheriff with assistance from Janesville Police.

Again, sheriff's departments from across the state are urging residents not to travel today, unless absolutely neccessary.
