Area Man Dies in SUV Rollover in Rural Fayette County

A Northeast Iowa man has died from injuries he sustained in a one-vehicle accident in rural Fayette County.

Authorities were called to the accident scene shortly after 8:30am Saturday (Nov. 25), on Juniper Road, about 5 miles north of West Union.

The driver of the vehicle, 68 year old Jean Mary Zweibahmer of Ossian, was traveling south, when she lost control. The vehicle went into a spin, then entered the east side ditch, rolling over.

A passenger, 73 year old Karl Zweibahmer of Ossian, was transferred to a LaCrosse hospital, where he died of his injuries. Jean Zweibahmer was treated at the West Union hospital.

The accident is under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff, which was assisted at the scene by the West Union Fire Department, Tristate Ambulance, and Clermont Ambulance.
