Area Driver Arrested After Traffic Stop Near Hawkeye

A West Union man has been arrested after a traffic stop in rural Fayette County.

Just before 1am Wednesday (Oct. 24), a Fayette County Sheriff's deputy pulled a car over for a traffic infraction, at 230th Street and Rose Road, about 2 miles north of Hawkeye.

The driver, 58 year old Robert McLaughlin of West Union, was determined to be driving while impaired.

McLaughlin was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated-1st Offense.

He was held in the Fayette County jail until his court appearance.
