An Area Man Accused of Assaulting a Child is Arrested

A rural West Union man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a child.

Shortly after 12 noon Sunday (Dec. 23), the Fayette County Sheriff was called out on the report of a possible child endangerment incident at a residence, near West Union. An investigation determined that 34 year old David Gordon allegedly assaulted a child at his residence. Gordon was arrested on a charge of Child Endangerment Causing Injury. He was held in the Fayette County jail until his initial court appearance.

A Monona man faces charges, on an accusation that he violated a no-contact order in Fayette County. 26 year old Alex Dettbarn was taken into custody in Elkader, then transported to the Fayette County jail for his initial court appearance. Dettbarn is being charged with Violating a No-Contact Order, and Stalking.

And early Friday, at about 2am, a Fayette County deputy found a vehicle at Fireman's Park, near Westgate. After an investigation, 29 year old Justin Bartels of Fayette was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated.
