The Fayette County Sheriff is investigating an apparent accidental shooting near Arlington.

Just after 10am Saturday (April 22), a deputy was flagged down just north of Arlington, near the intersection of 90th Street and County Road W-51.

A passenger in the car, identified as 50 year old Patrick Lynch of Grimes, had a gunshot wound to his ankle.

The officer administered First Aid, and summoned the Arlington Ambulance. Lynch was taken to the Manchester Hospital for treatment. A condition report was not available.

Authorities determined that Lynch and his 25 year old son, were target practicing on private property, north of Arlington, with a 9mm pistol. The weapon accidentally discharged, striking Lynch in the ankle.

The incident is still under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff.
