Accident Near Clermont Totals Vehicle

Authorities are investigating an accident indirectly involving an All Terrain Vehicle.

Just before 9pm Monday (Aug. 7), the Fayette County Sheriff got a report of a vehicle in the ditch on 245th Street, southeast of Clermont.

22 year old Paige Johanningmeier of Elgin was driving a car west, following an ATV driven by 70 year old Charles Klima of Buckingham, when Johanningmeier failed to notice the ATV slow down to make a left turn into a driveway.

To avoid a colision with the ATV, Johanningmeier partially drove into the south ditch, re-entered the roadway, then entered the north ditch. Johanningmeier sustained only minor injuries, but the vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Caliber, was totaled.

The incident is still under investigation.
