A one-vehicle accident west of Clermont late Sunday night (Dec. 2), resulted in an electrical outage for some area residents.


It happened at about 11:20pm in the 25,000 block of Garden Road, 6 miles west of Clermont. A northbound truck, driven by 33 year old David Kleppe of Ossian, went out of control and entered the west side ditch. The truck hit an electrical pole, temporarily causing an electrical outage in the area. Kleppe was not injured, but his truck was totaled. Kleppe is being charged with Failure to Maintain Control, and Failing to Use his Seatbelt. The accident was investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

The Fayette Sheriff was also called out to two accidents involving deer. Shortly after 8am Saturday, a truck driven by 55 year old Richard McAllen of Hazleton hit a deer on Kornhill Road, east of Fayette. No one was hurt, but there was $5,000 damage to McAllen's 2006 Chevrolet CK1500.

And just after 11pm Thursday, in the 7,000 block of Filmore Road northeast of Fayette, a car driven by 18 year old Justin Pfister of Hawkeye hit a deer when it wandered onto the road. Pfister was not hurt, but his Chevy Malibu had $2,500 in damage.
