LUXEMBURG, Iowa (AP) — Two men have died in separate crashes on northeastern Iowa roads.

39-year-old Blue Schmitt, of Denver, Iowa, died after the single-vehicle crash around 7 a.m. Friday on Iowa Highway 3, just west of Luxemburg. The Iowa State Patrol says Schmitt was traveling east pulling a tandem trailer, when his SUV left the road, overturned and landed on its top, pinning Schmitt inside. Schmitt, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

Around 8:20 p.m. Friday, 62-year-old Steven Solem, of Thornton, Colorado, died in a crash near Waukon.

Troopers say Solem was westbound in a pickup when he lost control, left the roadway and ended up in a ditch. He died at a Waukon hospital.
