CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) — A man suspected in a Chicago slaying has been arrested in Northeast Iowa.

Charles City police say officers and federal agents arrested 37 year old Phil Dewayne Jones, of Chicago, without incident on Tuesday morning.

Local authorities had received a tip that Jones could be in Charles City.

Police were assisted by the FBI in searching for Jones, who was found at an apartment complex on Clark Street in Charles City at about 9:30 Tuesday morning.  The search lasted only about a half hour.

Floyd County Jail records say he remained in custody on Wednesday, pending any court action to return him to Illinois to face a murder charge.  Other details on the murder itself, were not available.
